Kawhi 3: Alpha Predator

There is no denying that, in his 12th  year, Kawhi Leonard is still one of the best 2-way players in the NBA today. He has averaged 19.4 points, 6.4 boards, and 3 assists per game during career, however in his 3 full seasons with the Clippers, his averages have actually gone up! Kawhi has been putting up 25.1 points, 7.3 boards, and 3.3 assists in Clipper red, white, and blue. New Balance recognized his greatness and poached him from Jordan Brand back in 2018 and he is now on his 3rd signature shoe. "The Claw" unveiled the Kawhi 3 “Alpha Predator” in a game against Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks on February 2nd, and it is killer! (pun fully intended)

The San Diego State University alumn is currently New Balance’s only signature basketball athlete and his line has been quite the success. We have seen a lot of themed Kawhi shoes through the years and these are no different. This Kawhi 3 has a dark gray, almost black, mostly mesh upper with white and red accents. There is a faux snake or reptile print on the mudguard that reminds me, personally, of the Jordan XI IE. The midsole is white with a black splatter, and the sneaker is finished off with a clear outsole and a red splatter print underneath, looking similar to blood. They feature a full length FuelCell midsole and they are the first shoe to feature Energy Arc technology. The Energy Arc is a carbon fiber plate that is designed to create better energy return.

There are a handful of colorways in the works, andThe Alpha Predator is scheduled to release on February 10th, for a retail price of $160 USD.
